2017 Historic Preservation Days

Waukesha Preservation Alliance, along with many other partner organizations, is proud to host Historic Preservation Days Saturday, May 20th through Sunday, May 21st, 2017. This annual event brings local history to life for all ages. Saturday’s events include historic walking tours of Downtown Waukesha, First Baptist Church and Wisconsin Avenue Historic District, as well as walkings tours of the historic East Broadway Historic District/Buchner Park neighborhood. This annual event brings local history to life for all ages. Saturday’s events include historic walking tours of Downtown Waukesha, as well as walkings tours of the historic Arcadian Spring/Silurian Spring neighborhood. Farewell Architect George W. Gunn, Jr.

Architect George Gunn, who donated his time to the Landmarks Commission many years ago has died. The City named an award after him, because of his contribution to historic preservation in this city. He also was the architect who designed St. Mary’s church which was recently deemed potentially eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. Our sympathy goes out to the Gunn family. WPA Achieves 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Status

WPA Achieves 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Status

We are excited to announce that Waukesha Preservation Alliance (WPA) has achieved 501(c)(3) non-profit tax exempt status from the IRS. This tax exempt status will be retroactive to our incorporation date in June, 2011. As a non-profit public charity, our status change provides new benefits to WPA, our members, and those who wish to contribute to WPA. The key benefits include: Grants available to non-profits can now be pursued. Membership dues are tax deductible. Contributions made to WPA by individuals and corporations are tax deductible.
