WPA Makes It Through First Round For A Grant From Pepsi Co.

Waukesha, Wisconsin, October 24, 2011. The Waukesha Preservation Alliance (WPA), a group dedicated to preserving historic properties in Waukesha, has made it through the first round of the Pepsi Refresh competition for a $50,000 grant. This grant will be used for the first phase of developing the historic Bartles-Maguire gas station at 422 E. Broadway into a tourism center and rest area for the bike trail. The first phase involves acquiring the building and making repairs that are needed to get an occupancy permit. If the organization makes it through the next phase, then voting takes place throughout the entire month of November. The top ten vote getters in the $50,000 category get funded.
